THEATRE REVIEW: GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS – ELECTRIFYING, EXHILARATING, AND UNMISSABLE
CULKIN, ODENKIRK, AND AN ALL-STAR CAST DELIVER A BLAZING, BREATHTAKING REVIVAL OF MAMET’S MASTERPIECE
Glengarry Glen Ross is back on Broadway—and it’s never crackled quite like this. From the moment the lights go up, this revival grabs you by the collar and never lets go. What could have been a dry revival of a well-worn classic is, instead, a stunning reinvention—pulse-pounding, bitingly funny, and heartbreakingly human. If you’re even remotely a fan of theatre, run to the Palace Theatre.
Kieran Culkin is a revelation as Ricky Roma. He slithers, seduces, and scorches through Mamet’s language with a ferocity that’s impossible to look away from. His final scene is volcanic. It’s the kind of performance that redefines a role. Bob Odenkirk brings aching vulnerability and crumbling bravado to Shelley Levene—his every line lands with gut-punch weight. Together, Culkin and Odenkirk spark off each other like live wires, giving the show its emotional and moral center.
Bill Burr surprises with a swaggering, tightly coiled performance, and Michael McKean’s George Aaronow is a quietly devastating portrait of a man teetering on the edge of irrelevance. Every actor onstage brings their A-game, and director Patrick Marber steers the ship with razor-sharp precision, delivering pacing so tight and tension so thick you could cut it with a commission slip.
And yes, the Palace Theatre may be vast, but this production fills every inch of it with searing energy. The space amplifies the stakes, turning every whispered deal and shouted insult into something epic. Far from being swallowed up, the production owns the room. The audience was rapt—laughing, gasping, and hanging on every profanity-laced line.
This isn’t just a revival. It’s a high-octane, full-throttle reimagining of one of America’s greatest plays, brought to life by a dream cast at the height of their powers.
VERDICT: LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT. THIS GLENGARRY IS A MASTERCLASS—BRUTAL, BRILLIANT, AND ABSOLUTELY UNFORGETTABLE.
