MET GALA MELTDOWN: A-LISTERS BOW OUT AS ANNA WINTOUR’S DIDDY DRAMA DENTS GUEST LIST
“It’s Just Kardashians, Influencers, and Silence from the Stars,” Spills Source
Once the crown jewel of fashion and celebrity culture, the Met Gala is now struggling to fill seats with true A-list talent, insiders say — and Anna Wintour’s eyebrow-raising connection to disgraced mogul Diddy might be part of the problem.
“There’s a serious bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths,” one fashion insider tells Straight Shuter. “Anna’s coziness with Diddy for years has made invites feel radioactive to some of the biggest names in the industry.”
Among the early no-shows? Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, longtime Met Gala darlings, who are officially skipping the event. “If they’re not going, you know there’s a problem,” the insider adds.
Sources say the once-unmissable fashion fête has become an influencer free-for-all, packed with Kardashians, Jenners, and Instagram stars — and noticeably light on Oscar winners, music legends, and major designers.
“The Met used to be Meryl, Rihanna, Beyoncé,” says a longtime fashion publicist. “Now it’s TikTokers in fast fashion and whichever Jenner’s promoting a tequila brand.”
And while the guest list may have thinned, insiders insist there are still limits… for now.
“The standards haven’t dropped low enough to let the Real Housewives in — yet,” one source snarks. “But ask again next year.”
As for Anna? Sources say the Vogue queen bee is staying tight-lipped but unbothered — even as buzz behind the scenes suggests the event’s golden glow is fading fast.
“The Met Gala’s always been about exclusivity and taste,” another insider sighs. “Now it feels like a sponsored content shoot with a dress code.”
If this trend continues, this years theme might as well be - “Formerly Famous & Filtered.”
