Hello, hello, hello…

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie may have attended Peter Phillips’ wedding to Harriet Sperling, but insiders say their invitations came more from the affection of King Charles and Princess Anne than any desire by Prince William and Princess Catherine to spend time with them.

“Charles and Anne have always had a soft spot for Beatrice and Eugenie,” one insider told me. “They wanted the girls there for Peter’s big day.”

The invitation was notable given who wasn’t there. Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, former Prince Andrew, and Sarah Ferguson were all absent from the celebration.

“This wasn’t a full family reunion,” said a source. “Plenty of family members weren’t invited. Charles and Anne simply wanted Beatrice and Eugenie there.”

According to insiders, William and Kate remained polite but kept their distance throughout the event.

“There was no effort to mingle,” one source said. “No catching up. No private conversations. No attempt to create a family moment. Just a quick kiss Prince William gave his cousin Princess Beatrice as he arrived at the wedding before he quickly walked away.”

Observers noted little other interaction between the Waleses and the York sisters.

“William and Kate weren’t seeking them out,” said another insider. “And they certainly weren’t interested in being photographed with them.”

A second source was even more direct.

“If it had been entirely William’s decision, they wouldn’t have been there,” the insider claimed. “The invitation came from Charles and Anne.”
