EXCLUSIVE: SAVANNAH GUTHRIE DECLINES PERSONAL SECURITY INSIDE NBC — CHOOSES NORMALCY AT WORK
INSIDERS: “SHE WANTS TO DO HER JOB — NOT WALK AROUND WITH A BODYGUARD”
Hello, hello, hello…
Savannah Guthrie has tightened security — but also making a very clear call about how far it goes.
Sources tell Naughty But Nice that NBC offered round-the-clock personal protection, including a dedicated guard inside 30 Rock and Studio 1A.
She said no.
“She doesn’t want a bodyguard sitting outside her office or walking her through the halls,” one insider says. “She wants to feel normal at work.”
That doesn’t mean security isn’t there — it is.
“There is extra security at the show and throughout NBC right now,” the source explains. “The building is locked down tighter than usual.”
Studio 1A, already one of the most controlled environments in television, has stepped things up even further.
“Access is stricter than ever,” the insider reveals. “No pass, no entry — no exceptions.”
And that applies to everyone.
“Even longtime staff are being turned away if they don’t follow protocol,” the source adds. “Rules are rules right now.”
But inside her immediate workspace, Guthrie has drawn a firm boundary.
It Started With A Whisper, is now available
“There is no private, dedicated security just for Savannah inside her office,” the insider says. “That was her decision.”
Outside NBC is different.
“Her off-site security is being handled,” the source confirms. “But those details are private.”
Inside 30 Rock, Guthrie wants one thing: routine.
“She wants to walk in, do her job, and not feel surrounded by fear,” the insider says.
Translation?
“She’s protected,” the source says. “But she’s not giving up her normal life.”
Cheers,
Rob Shuter
And remember… if you’re going to be naughty, you’ve got to be nice. 💋
