As fresh reporting confirms that King Charles III personally contributed £1.5 million toward Andrew’s multimillion-pound settlement with Virginia Giuffre, friends of Prince William are moving swiftly to draw a bright, unmistakable line.
“William did not give a penny,” one close friend tells Naughty But Nice. “Not directly, not indirectly, not quietly. Nothing.”
The clarification comes amid swirling questions about who inside the royal family helped finance the estimated £12 million agreement that ended Giuffre’s civil sexual abuse lawsuit against Andrew. Andrew has denied wrongdoing and settled without admitting liability.
But insiders say William refused to be involved — financially or strategically.
“He believes accountability matters,” another source explains. “He was absolutely clear he would not fund any payoff, hush money, or settlement.”
The distinction is politically crucial. While Charles’ reported contribution ties him directly to resolving the case, William’s allies insist the future king deliberately kept his distance.
“William understands optics and principle,” says a royal watcher. “He wasn’t going to risk his credibility by touching this.”
Behind palace walls, the episode has only deepened the generational divide over how to handle Andrew’s scandal.
“This was Charles’ decision,” the insider adds. “William made sure it was never his.”

Prince William has always been a person of integrity and high standards. Never a doubt he would not involve himself in any way, shape or form with this situation.
There always has been a big difference between William and his father which is just another reason why Charles should step aside and let William ascend to the throne now and clean up a lot of that mess that’s happening.
