Nicole Kidman made one thing very clear at the Met Gala: she wanted nothing to do with Hugh Jackman and his new girlfriend, Sutton Foster.

Sources tell Naughty But Nice that Nicole intentionally kept her distance from the newly public couple throughout the night out of loyalty to Hugh’s ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, whom she has known and respected for years.

“Nicole is firmly Team Deb,” one insider says. “She believes Deb was deeply hurt by how everything unfolded, and Nicole isn’t interested in pretending otherwise just because Hugh showed up with a new woman on his arm.”

Hugh and Sutton made their official Met Gala debut together after confirming their romance publicly. But behind the glamorous photos, insiders say plenty of people inside the room were still whispering about the painful end of Hugh’s nearly three-decade marriage.

“Deb’s ‘betrayal’ comment was not forgotten in Hollywood,” a source explains. “A lot of people close to her feel Hugh did her wrong, and Nicole is one of the friends who has stayed incredibly protective.”

Sources say Nicole wasn’t rude or confrontational — she simply avoided any unnecessary interaction.

“She didn’t want drama,” the insider adds. “But she also wasn’t going to play happy families for the cameras.”
