EXCLUSIVE: NICK REINER REJECTED ROMANTICALLY DAYS BEFORE PARENTS’ MURDERS
BAD CHOICES AND OBSESSION PUSHED HIM OVER THE EDGE
Nick Reiner, 32, wasn’t just struggling with addiction — sources say he was spiraling after a brutal romantic rejection that exposed his social failures and growing bitterness.
“He’d just been turned down,” a longtime insider says. “He was awkward, overbearing, and completely unable to handle rejection. People didn’t stick around because he came on too strong.”
Those close to him describe repeated failed attempts to connect, mostly online, that only reinforced his anger and isolation. “He’d think there was chemistry, then they’d disappear,” another source explains. “Instead of learning, he doubled down, and it made him even more toxic to anyone around him.”
Friends say his intensity and poor judgment kept people at a distance. “Nick couldn’t read social cues,” one insider adds. “He drove people away with desperation and obsession.”
Sources note that this combination of heartbreak, isolation, and self-destructive behavior fed his drug use — creating a cycle he never broke.
Ultimately, those closest to him say the choices he made — fueled by anger, rejection, and poor judgment — helped set the stage for the tragic outcome.

Like all his subsequent victims, Lenz resembled Edwards, being young, white, with long dark hair parted in the middle and the same perfectly even features.
