EXCLUSIVE: NBC STAFF TOLD TO GIVE SAVANNAH GUTHRIE SPACE — EVEN AS SUPPORT POURS IN
INSIDERS: “EVERYONE WANTS TO HUG HER — BUT THEY’VE BEEN ASKED TO HOLD BACK”
Hello, hello, hello…
There’s an overwhelming wave of emotion inside NBC right now — but when it comes to Savannah Guthrie, staff have been given clear instructions: give her space.
Sources tell Naughty But Nice that while colleagues are deeply supportive following her return, they’ve been reminded to keep interactions professional inside 30 Rock.
“Everyone wants to stop her in the hallway or give her a hug in the elevator,” one insider reveals. “There’s a real outpouring of love.”
But management has stepped in to set boundaries.
“Staff have been told — be kind, but keep it professional,” the source explains. “This is still a workplace.”
That means no emotional ambushes — even with the best intentions.
“You can say hello, you can ride the elevator with her,” the insider adds. “But don’t overwhelm her.”
Importantly, sources stress this isn’t about diva rules.
My forthcoming novel, It Started With A Whisper, is now available for pre-order
“This isn’t Savannah demanding anything,” the source says. “It’s the network trying to protect her.”
Because behind the scenes, emotions are still running high.
“People care about her — a lot,” the insider explains. “But she’s also trying to do her job.”
And that balance is delicate.
“She needs support — but she also needs space to function,” the source adds.
At the end of the day, NBC wants to maintain a sense of normalcy.
“As heartbreaking as this situation is, this is still a newsroom,” the insider says. “Work has to continue.”
Cheers,
