EXCLUSIVE: MICHAEL STRAHAN BLITZES SAVANNAH! ABC’S SECRET WEAPON STEALS BELICHICK INTERVIEW FROM NBC
While Savannah Guthrie was still circling, Michael scored. Game. Set. Touchdown
There’s a media turf war raging behind the scenes — and Michael Strahan just steamrolled Savannah Guthrie in the race to land the first big post-scandal interview with NFL legend Bill Belichick.
"Michael didn’t wait for anyone. He made the call himself," a TV insider tells #ShuterScoop. "He didn’t rely on producers. He knew this was a huge opportunity — and he went for it like he was still wearing shoulder pads."
Belichick, still reeling from the train wreck CBS interview interrupted by his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson, will now sit down exclusively with Good Morning America. The highly anticipated one-on-one is Strahan’s victory — and a clear shot across the bow at rival networks.
"Michael plays to win. Robin and George are pros, but no one on the GMA team is more hands-on than him," the insider continues. "This was personal. He knew NBC wanted it. He knew Savannah was sniffing around. He beat them all to the punch."
At NBC, sources say Guthrie was pushing hard to land Belichick after his CBS debacle. But while NBC was still negotiating, Strahan was already closing the deal.
"Michael got on the phone with Belichick’s new PR fixer and made it happen," a rival producer admits. "He used the NFL connection. No one else on morning TV can compete with that kind of access."
With Hudson continuing to hover over Belichick’s every move — and his new book The Art of Winning hanging in the balance — this is more than just a fluff interview. It’s a full-on brand recovery attempt. And Strahan, say sources, is ready to play quarterback.
“This is why ABC keeps him front and center,” the source adds. “Michael Strahan doesn’t just read from a teleprompter. He wins.”
