EXCLUSIVE: JD VANCE AND MARCO RUBIO’S HIDDEN RIVALRY BOILING OVER
Hello, hello, hello…
Behind the smiles and public loyalty in Trump world, sources tell Naughty But Nice a quiet rivalry between JD Vance and Marco Rubio is quickly becoming one of the GOP’s worst-kept secrets.
Insiders say the vice president and secretary of state are locked in a behind-the-scenes battle for influence, visibility, and potentially the inside track to the 2028 Republican nomination.
“These two are absolutely rivals,” one GOP insider tells Naughty But Nice. “They play nice in public, but privately they cannot stand each other.”
Sources say tensions flared at a recent donor gathering at Mar-a-Lago when Donald Trump casually asked guests which man they saw leading the party in 2028.
“The room erupted for Rubio,” one source says. “People were openly cheering his name.”
Insiders say that moment did not go unnoticed.
My forthcoming novel, It Started With A Whisper, is now available for pre-order
“JD saw it, and JD clocked it,” the source adds. “He pays very close attention to who is getting Trump’s attention — and who is not.”
The rivalry, sources say, is fueled by two very different power lanes. Rubio, as secretary of state, commands global headlines and foreign policy visibility. Vance, as vice president, has something arguably more valuable: daily proximity to Trump.
“Marco has the international spotlight,” one insider explains. “JD has Trump’s ear. They are competing with different currencies, but they are absolutely competing.”
And Trump? Insiders say he is enjoying every second of it.
“Trump loves a rivalry,” one source tells Naughty But Nice. “He knows competition keeps everyone sharp, loyal, and desperate to impress him.”
In other words, insiders say, the 2028 Republican primary may have already begun.

And remember… if you’re going to be naughty, you’ve got to be nice. 💋

Marco Rubio has more experience and he will have a chance to shine again in negotiations with Cuba. JD Vance is young and has time on his side. He should not burn bridges.
