EXCLUSIVE: GWYNETH PALTROW SAYS SHE REGRETS NOT HAVING MORE KIDS — BUT FORGETS TO MENTION CHRIS MARTIN BEGGED FOR THEM
“IT WAS A DEALBREAKER,” SAYS SOURCE — “HE WANTED MORE, SHE SAID NO”
Gwyneth Paltrow says she regrets not having more children — but left out one major detail: Chris Martin wanted more, and she shut it down.
On this week’s episode of her Goop podcast, the Oscar-winning actress, 52, reflected on the size of her family, telling husband Brad Falchuk that she often wished she had expanded her brood.
“My dad, Bruce Paltrow, used to say the only regret he had in life was not having more kids,” she said. “And I felt like that for a long time.”
But here’s what she didn’t say on the mic:
“Chris begged her to have another baby before they split,” a source close to the former couple tells me. “He really wanted a third. It was important to him. But Gwyneth said no — and that was part of what broke them.”
The Coldplay frontman, now 48, envisioned a larger family, especially during the couple’s final years together.
“Chris thought having another child might bring them closer,” the insider adds. “Gwyneth thought it would pull her further away from herself.”
Instead of a new baby, the pair famously embarked on a conscious uncoupling.
“It wasn’t about not loving Apple and Moses,” the source insists. “It was about control. Gwyneth wanted to keep her freedom, her body, her career. Another baby didn’t fit into that vision.”
Now married to Falchuk, a fellow parent of two, Gwyneth says she feels more “complete” in a blended family — but the regret clearly lingers.
“It’s tricky,” she said on the podcast. “It requires a great deal of accountability… understanding your triggers.”
And for Chris? Sources say he’s long moved on — but hearing Gwyneth reflect publicly on not having more kids “feels a little revisionist.”
“She’s rewriting the narrative a bit,” the insider says. “She had the chance. He wanted it. She didn’t.”
Regret is honest — but omission? That’s very Goop.
