EXCLUSIVE: GEORGE AND AMAL CLOONEY ENCOURAGING A-LIST FRIENDS TO LEAVE AMERICA — AND I’M TOLD HOLLYWOOD IS PAYING ATTENTION
THE HOLLYWOOD EXODUS IS QUIETLY IN MOTION
George and Amal Clooney aren’t just relocating their own family — I’m told they’re quietly nudging other A-list friends to consider leaving America too.
Multiple sources tell me the Clooneys’ move to France — and their decision to secure French citizenship for themselves and their twins — has turned them into behind-the-scenes evangelists for a Hollywood exodus driven by privacy fears, political exhaustion, and deep concern about raising children in the U.S.
“Rob, this is personal,” one longtime friend tells me. “They talk nonstop about safety, sanity, and protecting kids.”
According to insiders, the Clooneys have been hosting low-key dinners at their estate in the South of France, where conversations inevitably drift toward life outside America — and how dramatically different it feels.
“The message is always the same,” a source says. “No paparazzi. No school-gate ambushes. No fear. They sell it as peace of mind.”
Amal is said to be especially persuasive.
“Amal frames it as a quality-of-life issue,” one insider explains. “She talks about dignity, privacy laws, and how children deserve anonymity. People listen.”
And yes — big names are being discussed privately:
Brad Pitt
Julia Roberts
Several A-list couples with young children
“Brad has talked about Europe forever,” one source tells me. “The Clooneys didn’t introduce the idea — they normalized it.”
Sources stress this isn’t about taxes.
“This has nothing to do with money,” a friend insists. “It’s about feeling safe letting your kids exist without being content.”
France’s strict privacy laws — especially those protecting minors — are the biggest selling point.
“America monetizes childhood,” one source says. “Europe doesn’t.”
Inside Hollywood, the shift is being noticed.
“There’s a real recalibration happening,” an industry insider tells me. “When someone as established as the Clooneys steps away, it gives everyone else permission to imagine a different life.”
No one is announcing a mass departure — not yet. But the conversations are happening quietly, over wine instead of press releases.
Remember — if you’re going to be naughty, you’ve got to be nice.
Cheers,
Rob Shuter
