EXCLUSIVE: DAVID HASSELHOFF HAS BEEN QUIETLY USING A WHEELCHAIR FOR MONTHS — “HIS KNEES ARE SHOT."
Baywatch star set for surgery after secretly battling pain for over six months
David Hasselhoff may have just been spotted in a wheelchair this week — but sources tell #ShuterScoop he’s been using one behind the scenes for a while now.
“This isn’t new. He’s been relying on a wheelchair more and more — especially when traveling — because his knees are in terrible shape,” an insider close to the 72-year-old actor reveals. “He’s been quietly suffering for at least six months.”
Photos of the Baywatch and Knight Rider legend being wheeled through Cancun and later LAX sparked concern among fans, especially following the recent tragic death of his ex-wife. But Hasselhoff tried to keep things light, flashing a thumbs-up and reassuring onlookers that he's undergoing knee surgery next week.
“He’s trying to stay positive,” the source adds. “But he’s been in pain for a long time and just didn’t want to make it public. Now that he’s finally getting the surgery, he’s hopeful he’ll be able to walk again without assistance.”
A rep for the actor confirmed the upcoming procedure and said Hasselhoff and wife Hayley Roberts had just returned from a relaxing vacation in Mexico.
“David is doing fine and actually he and [his] wife were returning from a great vacation in Cancun last week.”
