The Prince of Darkness has taken his final bow.
Ozzy Osbourne, the heavy metal icon and founding member of Black Sabbath, has died at the age of 76. His family confirmed the heartbreaking news Tuesday morning, saying the legendary rocker “passed away surrounded by love.”
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” read the statement, signed by wife Sharon and children Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
The exact cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Ozzy's death comes just weeks after Black Sabbath announced a reunion tour with the original lineup for later this year — plans that now seem shattered by this tragic turn.
Born in Birmingham, England, Ozzy rose to global fame in the late ’60s as the frontman of Black Sabbath, delivering genre-defining anthems like “Iron Man,” “War Pigs,” and “Paranoid.” Though he was kicked out of the group in 1979 due to substance abuse, Ozzy’s solo career skyrocketed, with multi-platinum albums, Grammy wins, and unforgettable hits like “Crazy Train” and “No More Tears.”
His wild personal life and rock 'n' roll antics were on full display in The Osbournes, the early 2000s MTV reality hit that introduced a new generation to the foul-mouthed, big-hearted music legend.
He is survived by Sharon — his wife, manager, and fierce protector — their five children, and many grandchildren.
Ozzy Osbourne leaves behind a legacy that reshaped music, redefined fame, and proved that even chaos could carry a tune. Rest in power, Ozz.
